Terms of use
These terms cover two audiences: patients and families who use the directory to find care, and providers who are listed on it or who claim and manage a profile. Please read the sections that apply to you.
Who we are
Find Private Care (this website) is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME — TBC], a company registered in England & Wales under company number [COMPANY NUMBER — TBC], with its registered office at [REGISTERED ADDRESS — TBC]. In these terms "we", "us" and "our" mean that company; "you" means the person or organisation using the site.
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
For patients and families
An information service — not medical advice
- Find Private Care helps you find and compare CQC-registered private hospitals, clinics, care homes and clinicians. It is an information and enquiry service only.
- Nothing on the site is medical, clinical, diagnostic or treatment advice, and it is not a substitute for a consultation with a qualified healthcare professional. Always speak to a clinician about your own circumstances before making any healthcare decision.
- Procedure guides are for general education, benchmarked against public sources such as NHS.uk. A guide only carries a "Clinically reviewed" badge once our Chief Medical Officer has signed it off; otherwise it shows a draft notice.
- We do not recommend, endorse, warrant or guarantee any individual provider, and we are not a party to any arrangement you enter into with a provider. Choosing and booking care is your decision.
Emergencies
If you have a medical emergency, call 999. For urgent but non-emergency advice, call NHS 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk. Do not use the enquiry form or wait for a provider to respond in an urgent situation.
Prices are indicative
Prices, fees and "from £X" guides shown on the site are indicative and provided to help you compare. They may be out of date, may not reflect your individual clinical needs, and do not form a quotation or an offer. Always confirm the exact price directly with the provider before you book or commit to treatment.
How we rank — and what money cannot buy
Results are ordered by a published, weighted scoring method (transparency of pricing, ease of booking, reviews, accessibility, CQC rating and distance). Payment never affects a provider's organic rank or quality score. At most one clearly-labelled Sponsored slot may appear per search, kept separate from the organic list. Every result exposes its own points breakdown. The full methodology is on How ranking works.
Acceptable use
When using the site you agree not to:
- use it for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose, or in breach of these terms;
- submit false, misleading or malicious enquiries, or another person's details without their authority;
- scrape, harvest, bulk-download or systematically copy the directory or any content except as expressly permitted;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems;
- upload anything unlawful, defamatory, or infringing another person's rights.
We may restrict or withdraw access where these rules are broken.
For providers
Free listing for every CQC-registered provider
- Every CQC-registered provider in scope is listed free of charge, whether or not it has claimed its profile and whether or not it pays for any tier. Free coverage is a core principle of the service.
- Listings are built from public sources, including the CQC register (used under the Open Government Licence v3.0). If your listing contains an error, you can claim your profile to correct it, or contact us.
Claiming and verification
- To manage a listing you must claim it and complete our verification (for example confirming a matching CQC location, an email domain match, or — for clinicians — a GMC register check). You confirm you are authorised to act for the provider.
- You must keep your account credentials secure and are responsible for activity under your account.
- We may re-verify a claim at any time and may suspend a claim pending verification.
Accuracy of submitted content
- You are responsible for the accuracy of everything you submit — prices, services, booking methods, accessibility answers, opening hours, photos, review responses and profile text.
- Submitted content must be truthful, current, lawful, and not misleading. Where a "verified pricing" or similar freshness indicator applies, you must re-confirm it when we ask; otherwise it may decay or be removed.
- You must have the right to submit any content and images you upload, and you must not submit anything unlawful, defamatory or infringing.
Paid tiers and billing
- Free tiers (Doctor profile; Clinic — Verified) never require payment.
- Paid tiers (for example Clinic — Professional and Clinic — Premium) are billed monthly or annually in advance through our payment processor after verification. Prices, features and any annual discount are as shown at the point of sale.
- You can cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Except where the law requires otherwise, fees already paid for the current period are non-refundable.
- We may change tier pricing or features on reasonable notice; changes take effect at your next renewal.
Ranking integrity — the rule that never changes
- Paying for any tier never affects your organic rank or quality score. The only way to rank higher organically is to be more transparent and better for patients — publish pricing, enable easier booking, improve accessibility, earn genuine reviews.
- The only paid position is at most one clearly-labelled Sponsored slot per search, kept entirely separate from the organic results. We will never add a second, and we will never sell organic position.
Licence to display your content
By submitting content you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, reproduce, adapt for formatting, and display that content on the site and in related listings, search results and provider profiles, for as long as your listing is live. You retain ownership of your content. This licence ends for new display when you remove the content or your listing closes, subject to reasonable operational and backup retention.
Suspension for inaccuracy or misconduct
We may edit, suspend or remove a listing or account, with or without notice depending on severity, where content is inaccurate or misleading, where verification fails, where these terms or the law are breached, or where conduct harms patients or the integrity of the service. Where practical we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.
Terms for everyone
Our liability
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for the acts, omissions, advice, treatment, pricing or availability of any provider, nor for loss arising from your reliance on directory information, indicative prices or procedure guides.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with the site is limited: for patients, to zero where you paid us nothing; for providers, to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, goodwill or data.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version always lives at this page, and the date below shows when it last changed. Significant changes affecting providers on paid tiers will be notified before they take effect. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction (this does not remove any consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your home nation).
